JOB DESCRIPTION: Inventory Control & Configuration/Data Management Specialist (Entry Level)
The Inventory Control & Configuration/Data Management Specialist provides administrative and operational support for Inventory Control and Configuration/Data Management (CM/DM) activities supporting NASA's Cargo Mission Contract (CMC). This entry-level position assists with the accountability of flight and ground hardware, inventory accuracy, documentation control, and data management processes that support multiple NASA programs, including ISS, Orion, Human Landing System (HLS), Commercial Crew and Cargo.
Working under established procedures and with on-the-job training, the selected candidate will support inventory operations, maintain accurate records, process work orders and documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware and associated data remain accurate, traceable, and compliant throughout the product lifecycle. This role offers opportunities to cross-train between inventory operations and configuration/data management functions based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support inventory control activities including receiving, stocking, issuing, tracking, inspecting, and transferring hardware within controlled storage areas
- Maintain accurate inventory and property records using electronic inventory and work order systems
- Assist with physical inventories, audits, hardware disposition activities, and inventory reconciliation
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and accountability of government-furnished property and mission hardware
- Process work orders and update documentation in physical and electronic systems
- Assist with maintaining configuration and data records to support hardware traceability and documentation accuracy
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to processing or submission
- Support data entry and document uploads into approved repositories and tracking systems
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Program, Logistics, and Customer representatives to resolve routine inventory and documentation questions
- Follow established procedures, quality standards, and configuration management processes
- Support additional Inventory Control or CM/DM activities as assigned to meet operational priorities
REQUIREMENTS: Inventory Control & Configuration/Data Management Specialist (Entry Level)
Education: High School Diploma (Some college preferred)
Year(s) of Experience: Entry-level role; prior space industry experience preferred but not required
Minimum Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
Required Skills and Traits:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and climb ladders as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with inventory, logistics, records management, or document control
- Familiarity with SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms
- Experience with inventory or work order systems
- Familiarity with NASA or government property management processes
- Experience working in a regulated or quality-controlled environment

- This position supports multiple operational functions and requires flexibility to shift priorities based on program needs
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 35 lbs.), and ladder use may be required
